White Hat Seminar Slides 2006

The Annual AzFOA White Hat Seminar is held each year at Phoenix Country Day School. Over 100 Referees and Crew Representatives from all over the State attended to work toward making officiating more consistent throughout the state.

President Don Cerimeli opened the session by stating this was not about Yuma, Flagstaff, Tucson, Phoenix or any other area, but rather about officiating in all of Arizona.

Your Crew Chief will be sharing much of the discussion with you prior to the start of the season. In the meantime, feel free to peruse some of the class materials by using the links to the left. We hope all officials become familiar with this material in the interest of improving officiating in our state.

The files are in Acrobat format. The free viewer can be downloaded by using the link near the bottom of the left side of this page.

Back Judge to Signal at end of 25-second count
The Back Judge will give the 5-second count in 2004. The mechanic changes the NFHS has approved states that the Back Judge will give a visible signal, a counting motion similar to the one used in basketball when there is 5-seconds left on the 25-second clock.

All attendees were asked to sign the keynote banner.
The banner serves as a sign that we are together as a STATE officiating body.

Dick Bartsch of the Tucson Football Officials Association leads the Rules and Mechanics changes session.

Co-Leader of this session was Jim Watson.

CAFOA President Don Cerimeli leads the Wrap-Up session at the end of the day.
